Unlike some ear wax removal providers our dedicated Aldershot clinic room is based on an ENT profession set-up.  Most other wax cleaning practitioners use non-specialist rooms, such as opticians, and head worn magnifying goggles which don't offer the same degree and depth of view of the ear canal as a Microscope.

Types of ear wax removal in Fleet

As we are ear cleaning experts and at times we will employ various methods to remove troublesome ear wax.

Microsuction

We use Microsuction with all patients who required ear wax cleaning in Fleet. Microsuction removes wax using a small tube connected to a medical suction device which gently removes the wax from the ear canal. Depending on the wax, it either goes up the tube or comes out in larger lumps.

During the whole process the Audiologist examines you ear canal using an ENT Microscope which offers the best and safest way to remove wax, even up to the ear drum.

The vast majority of patients we see only require the Microsuction method and successfully removes ear wax in one visit.

Irrigation

Occasionally we use the irrigation method along side Microsuction to remove sticky wet wax from the ear. This is often the result of the use of certain types of ear drops.

Irrigation involves gently flushing the ear with water for a few seconds. Because we only use this in conjunction with Microsuction, there is less need to do this for longer periods so reduces the risk and discomfort usually experienced.

Manual tools

For very hard or impacted wax we are trained to use manual tools such as Jobson Horne probes or ear hooks.  These are used in conjunction with Microsuction to loosen wax from the ear canal wall so that it can be removed easily using Microsuction.

During your Ear wax removal appointment we will explain the process in detail, what we are doing and how we are progressing.

Clinic appointments are available:

• Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm
• Saturday 8.00am to 2.00pm

We allow up to 45 minutes for ear wax removal so you are not rushed.

Ear Wax Removal is £70 per appointment for both ears and includes:

• Medical History & Consent form
• Video Otoscopy -  so you can see your ears
• Wax Removal
• When appropriate Screening Hearing test or Tympanometry 

In the majority of cases we can remove wax in one appointment. Occasionally a second follow up appointment may be required if the wax is very deep in the ear canal or impacted.  This sometimes can happen with certain types of ear drops or home remedies.  There may be a charge of £35 for this follow up appointment.
