mi Ears Audiology in Knaphill are specialists in Paediatric Hearing Assessment. The Children's Hearing Test Assessment is for children aged from 3 to 12 years of age and is with an experienced Specialist Paediatric Audiologist in a dedicated Paediatric Audiology sound proofed room.

We allocate 45-60 minutes for the appointment which includes:

Comprehensive medical history.

Examination of your child's ears.

Different objective and behavioural tests can be used according to your child’s age and ability:

• Pure tone audiometry (Hearing Test): children from 5 years old using headphones and pressing a button when they hear a sound.

• Play audiometry: children from 2 -5 years old using headphones or a soundfield handheld audiometer. Performing a task such as putting a man in a boat when they hear a sound.

• Tympanometry: tests the middle ear and ear drum status and can detect conditions such as glue ear or a perforated eardrum. It can also check if grommets are patent.

• Speech discrimination tests : Using the Parrot automated speech tests according to age: McCormick toy test, Manchester Picture Word test, Manchester Junior Word list, AB Word list. 

• Otoacoustic Emissions: cochlear function testing used on the Newborn Hearing Screen Programme.
