Types of ear wax removal for Chobham include various methods tailored to your needs. 

Microsuction: We utilize microsuction ear wax removal for all patients needing ear wax cleaning for Chobham. This method involves using a small tube connected to a medical suction device to gently remove wax from the ear canal. Depending on the wax's consistency, it either travels up the tube or comes out in larger lumps. Throughout the process, the audiologist examines your ear canal with an ENT Microscope, ensuring the safest and most effective removal of wax, even near the eardrum. Most patients only require the microsuction method, which successfully removes ear wax in one visit. 

Irrigation: Occasionally, we employ the irrigation method alongside microsuction to address sticky wet wax, often caused by certain types of ear drops. Since we only use this in conjunction with microsuction, the procedure is shorter, reducing the risk and discomfort typically associated with irrigation. 

Manual tools: For very hard or impacted wax, our audiologists are trained to use manual tools such as Jobson Horne probes or ear hooks. These tools are used alongside microsuction to help loosen wax from the ear canal wall for easier removal. 

During your ear wax removal appointment, we will explain the process in detail, including what we are doing and how we are progressing. 

Clinic appointments are available Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. We allocate up to 45 minutes for ear wax removal to ensure you are not rushed. 

Ear Wax Removal in Chobham is £70 per appointment for both ears and includes: 

- Medical History & Consent form 

- Video Otoscopy - so you can see your ears 

- Wax Removal 

- When appropriate, a Screening Hearing test or Tympanometry 

In most cases, we can remove wax in one appointment. Occasionally, a second follow-up appointment may be necessary if the wax is very deep in the ear canal or impacted, sometimes due to certain types of ear drops or home remedies. A follow-up appointment may incur a charge of £35.
